MikYong Kim

Mikyong Kim-Goh, PHD, MSW, LCSW, Project Director

Dr. Kim-Goh is a Professor in the Department of Social Work. She is currently the Project Director of the CSUF CalSWEC Child Welfare program and Co-Evaluator of two large grants, one from SAMHSA and the other from the California Department of Public Health Office of Health Equity.  A licensed clinical social worker, Dr. Kim-Goh practiced social work in public mental health prior to joining academia, serving primarily Asian immigrants and refugees.

Dr. Kim-Goh directs all BHEAL project activities and oversee the project staff. She assists in the student selection process, program evaluation, and career development activities. She oversees stipend eligibility and disbursement to students, and oversees those outcomes and deliverables exceed goals and expectations. Dr. Kim-Goh maintains regular contact with HRSA personnel, and she monitors grant funding expenses to ensure that all expenditures are in compliance. Dr. Kim-Goh also disseminates program progress at professional conferences.

David Chenot

David Chenot, PHD, MSW, LCSW, Interprofessional Health Training Coordinator

Dr. Chenot is licensed as a clinical social worker (LCSW) and has years of direct practice experience in both child welfare and public mental health. He has offered interprofessional education and training in multiple venues and has taught many courses in higher education over the past 20-years.

 

As the Interprofessional Health Training Coordinator, Dr. Chenot plans, organizes, and implements interprofessional trainings for field instructors and preceptors who mentor the students in BHEAL field placements. He identifies Interprofessional Education Consultants and work together with them to provide training to field instructors, preceptors in community partner agencies, and faculty from the Department of Social Work.

Karen Kyeunghae

Karen Kyeunghae Lee, PHD, LCSW, MSPH, Evaluator

Dr. Lee is an Associate Professor in the Department of Social Work. Her research focuses on integrated behavioral health, mental health disparities, and improving access and quality of care for people with mental illness. She was a co-evaluator of the SAMHSA SBIRT grant and currently is a co-evaluator of a grant from the California Department of Public Health. She is also a member of the Interprofessional Education Committee in the College of Health and Human Development in CSUF.

Dr. Lee serves as the primary evaluator for the project. She oversees the coordinates all aspects of the evaluation systems. Dr. Lee develops evaluation tools, collects, manages, and analyzes all evaluation data. She is in charge or preparing evaluation reports and supervising graduate research assistants.

Brittany

Brittany Eghaneyan, PHD, MSSW, Curriculum Coordinator

Dr. Eghaneyan is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Social Work. She has experience as a Project Coordinator for federally funded research projects that implemented integrated health care models into primary care settings with responsibilities that included protocol development, staff training, and supervision of graduate social work students. She also has experience teaching a specialized integrated behavioral health care course for social work students as well as working as a consultant in integrated health care.

Dr. Eghaneyan’s position is to plan, develop, enhance, and facilitate department-wide comprehensive training strategies, methodologies, and curriculum for student development and training. She collaborates with the Student Fieldwork Coordinator and Interprofessional Health Training Coordinator to provide interprofessional training and specialized experiences to students. She assists the Evaluator in analyzing training needs and outcomes to modify and improve the existing student training program.

Debra Saxton

Debra Saxton, MSW, LCSW, Community Fieldwork Coordinator

As the Community Field Director for the MSW program, Ms. Saxton has developed and maintained fieldwork sites for MSW students; and has developed and implemented trainings for community partners and fieldwork supervisors. In addition to 18 years teaching social work in higher education, Ms. Saxton has over 25 years of clinical experience working in a variety of community health and mental health settings.

Ms. Saxton assists with student recruitment and the student selection process to determine stipend recipients. She develops and maintains Health/Mental Health fieldwork sites within agencies that meet the grant criteria and assist in placing students in these agencies. This includes the development of maintenance of MOUs. She also coordinates contact between university and community partners.

Marcella Mendez

Marcella Mendez, MSW, LCSW, Student Fieldwork Coordinator

Ms. Mendez is a Lecturer and Student Field Director in the Department of Social Work. She teaches courses in Social Work Practice and Field Instruction. Ms. Mendez is a California state-licensed clinical social worker and has worked for over 20 years at several non-profit Mental Health agencies within the Los Angeles area. Ms. Mendez has experience working with pregnant teens, teen mothers, adolescents, and adults and as a director providing outpatient mental health services to children and families.

Ms. Mendez assists with student recruitment with the student selection process and with placing students in partner agencies. She helps with the development of interprofessional training for students, field faculty, and field placement supervisors. Ms. Mendez also assists students with supportive career services in engaging in the behavioral health workforce.

John Pineda

John Pineda, MPH, Administrative Coordinator

Mr. Pineda earned his Master of Public Health degree with a concentration in Health Promotion from Cal State Fullerton, and Bachelor of Science in Public Health from Cal State Los Angeles. He also teaches in the Department of Human Services, teaching courses as it relates to research methods, grant writing, and program evaluation.

Under the supervision of the Project Director, Mr. Pineda provides clerical support that includes communication of project plans, meetings, and other participant issues. Heprepares agendas and handouts for meetings and helps design posters and brochures for promoting the project. Mr. Pineda is also in charge of completing paperwork related to travel, conference reimbursement, supply ordering, and other BHEAL activities and expenditures.
